Beckman (CA) 2019 midfielder Carly Tobias has made a verbal commitment to play Division II lacrosse at Lindenwood University.

Carly Tobias profile:

Carly Tobias

High school: Beckman HS, California

Position: Midfield

Grad year: 2019

College committed to: Lindenwood University

Club team: Pacific Falcons

Lacrosse honors: 2X Orange County High School National Team, 2017 National Tournament Champions, Under Armour Uncommitted team selection, Offensive MVP (sophmore), Player to Watch, OC Register Newspaper (2017)

Academic honors: 3x Scholar Athlete, Junior State of America, Homecoming for Soldiers

Expected major: Psychology

Why did you choose Lindenwood? “Throughout the recruiting process I visited many schools, met coaches both personally and through email and had the opportunity to attend classes and training sessions with players. I was looking for a program that was competitive, had a strong academic reputation, and was committed to their lacrosse team. It was also important that where ever I played, I wasn’t just a number. I wanted a relationship with my coaches, and the opportunity to make an immediate impact. I wanted my coaches to be as interested in my academics as they were in my lacrosse skills. Finally, I wanted a program that valued community involvement, civic responsibility and giving back. I found all this at Lindenwood.”

HS team’s 2018 outlook: “We are returning several seniors and have high expectations for our program! Our hope is to win league and advance deep in to the CIF playoffs after a disappointing run last season.”

Thank You: “What an honor it is for me to have an opportunity to thank those that have played such a big role in this accomplishment. First, to my parents, Steve and Terri Tobias. who have sacrificed so much for me to play lacrosse. Because Lacrosse is considered a ‘non-traditional’ sport on the West Coast, most of my events required travel to the Northeast and East coast every fall and summer. So, thank you mom and dad for sacrificing your time and working so hard so I could have the opportunity to play this game.

“I also want to thank Lindenwood Coaches Jack Cribbin and Brian Smith. They were gentleman throughout the recruiting process, always speaking honestly about their program, the university, and plans moving forward. I never got the sense they were only telling me what I wanted to hear. I’m excited to play for them!

“Thank you to Coach Brian Eisenberg for teaching me the game and to my other club coaches; Holly Reilly, Lauren Ciccomascolo, Kelly Baker, and Joe Brown. Thank you to my XTEAM coach, Michelle Ruth for teaching me discipline, how to prepare recruiting videos, email coaches and set up telephone calls – I couldn’t have done it without you!

“Thank you to my trainer, Nick Tintle for always pushing me and challenging me to be better. You’re the best! Finally, to my sisters Kelsey and Paige who have been so supportive throughout this process. THANK YOU!”

Other schools considered: West Point, Navy, Arizona State, Butler, Central Michigan
