The Preseason C2C Lacrosse North America Boys’ Rankings (last year’s recorods in parenthesis)
1. Hill Academy (ONT, Canada) 13-1
Hill, with loaded senior and junior classes, opens as the No. 1 team.
2. Haverford School (PA) 26-0
The Fords went 26-0 last year and were the No. 1 team. They lost a brilliant senior class, but still return ace senior Dox Aitken (Virginia) and enough talent to challenge for Inter-Ac and IA Challenge titles.
3. Victor (N.Y.) 22-0
The Blue Devils capped had a perfect season in 2015, winning the state class B title with a junior-laden team. They may be even better this year.
4. Gonzaga (DC) 18-3
The Purple Eagles are the clear favorite to repeat as DC WCAC champions.
5. St. Paul’s (MD) 13-6
The Crusaders should again challenge in the MIAA “A” Conference.
6. Culver Military Academy (IN) 17-6;
The Eagles will find out where they stand in March when they travel East to play Episcopal Academy, Haverford School, McDonogh, Salesianum and Gonzaga in a killer six-day stretch.
7. Hun School (N.J.) 17-1
The Raiders lost only to No. 1 Haverford School last year and will again be a force.
8. IMG National (FL) 10-4
The Ascenders will again play a national schedule against such powers as Hill Academy, Army and Navy Prep, Everest Academy, Bergen Catholic and Seton Hall Prep.
9. Calvert Hall (MD) 12-6
The Cardinals will challenge for an MIAA “A” title.
10. Chaminade (N.Y.) 13-2
The Flyers look to defend their CHSAA championship.
11. Bullis School (MD) 14-5
The Bulldogs will challenge in the DC IAC.
12. Smithtown East (N.Y.) 18-2
The Bulls reached the Long Island Class A championship last year and have the talent to go further.
13. McDonogh School (MD) 14-5
The Eagles reached the MIAA “A” final last year and return as a co-favorite.
14. Cold Spring Harbor (NY) 19-1
the Seahawks won the NY state Class C title last year and return a strong nucleus.
15. Syosset (NY) 18-2
The Braves fell to eventual champion Niskayuna, 14-11, in the NY Class A state semifinals last year and look to challenge again for state honors.
16. Darien (CT) 20-3
The Blue Wave won its second straight Class M state crown and again will go out of state to play Niskayuna, Manhasset and St. Anthony’s.
17. Bridgewater-Raritan (N.J.) 23-0
The defending Tournament of Champions graduated a strong senior class, but will contend for another title.
18. Malvern Prep (PA) 13-10
The Friars look to challenge for the Inter-Ac and Inter-Ac Challenge championships.
19. St. Ignatius Prep (CA) 18-1
The Wildcats were the class of the West last year and will be tested again by their Eastern foes, Gonzaga, McDonogh and Chaminade, this year. They have a strong defense and midfield, but will need to replace much of a standout attack.
20. Landon School (MD) 18-2
The defending DC IAC champion Bears boast a strong junior class, and should emerge as the season progresses.
Under consideration: Bergen Catholic (N.J.) 18-6; Boys’ Latin (MD) 15-5; Cazenovia (NY) 20-3; Cherry Creek (CO) 18-1; Delbarton (N.J.) 20-2; Episcopal Academy (PA) 14-7; Everest Academy (Ontario) 0-0; Garden City (NY) 11-7; Georgetown Prep (MD) 13-4; Jamesville-DeWitt (N.Y.) 18-2; Lincoln-Sudbury (MA) 20-1; Loyola Blakefield (MD) 9-5; Lynbrook (N.Y.) 18-1; Manhasset (N.Y.) 16-6; Massapequa (N.Y.) 17-1; Niskayuna (NY) 21-2; Northport (N.Y.) 17-2; Pittsford (N.Y.) 19-2; Sachem North (NY) 13-5; Seton Hall Prep (NJ) 15-2; St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 12-4; Summit (NJ) 19-5; Ward Melville (N.Y.) 17-3; West Genesee (N.Y.) 18-3.
